Juggling Deadlines, Doodles & Dirty Dishes: A Peek into My Beautiful Chaos<\/h2>Juggling Deadlines, Doodles & Dirty Dishes: A Peek into My Beautiful Chaos<\/h2>Hi, I\u2019m Fred \u2014 illustrator, social media wrangler, customer whisperer, financial juggler, and proud mum to a teen entrepreneur who runs her own dog-walking business. I\u2019m also married to a full-time, hard working husband, we share a home with my gorgeous adult son (who\u2019s saving up for his own place), and serve two cats who believe they are the true CEOs of this operation.<\/p>
If you\u2019ve ever tried to design a character while your head is elsewhere, worrying about your daughter, who\u2019s out walking dogs, whilst your son\u2019s asking if there\u2019s any milk left, your inbox is pinging with \u201cjust wondering if my order shipped,\u201d and your cats are staging a mutiny over dinner \u2014 welcome. You\u2019re my people.<\/p>
Balancing work and life isn\u2019t a neat little scale. It\u2019s more like a circus act involving flaming hoops, a unicycle, and a cat who refuses to perform. My workday includes:<\/p>
Sketching characters who are cuter than I feel at 7 a.m.<\/p><\/li>
Writing captions that sound breezy while I\u2019m anything but<\/p><\/li>
Answering lovely (and occasionally spicy) messages from followers and customers<\/p><\/li>
Managing finances with the enthusiasm of a cat at bath time<\/p><\/li><\/ul>
All while trying to remember if I defrosted dinner or just thought about it really hard.<\/p>
I love a good chat. I really do. But between work, family, pets, and the occasional attempt at self-care, socialising often ends up on the \u201cnice idea\u201d list. My religious meetings \u2014 a top priority and a source of deep connection with those I consider family \u2014 are often missed due to health hiccups. And I miss it, I also miss meeting up for a cuppa: the laughs, the warmth, the cake, the reminder that I\u2019m not the only one reheating the same cup of tea three times.<\/p>
Anyone got tips on where to squeeze in a little social sparkle? Between the inbox and the laundry pile? Bonus points if it doesn\u2019t require leaving the house or putting on real trousers.<\/p>
Some days I feel like I\u2019m nailing it. Other days I\u2019m wearing mismatched socks and wondering if cereal counts as a balanced meal. Health challenges add a layer of unpredictability, and let\u2019s be honest \u2014 sometimes the only thing I \u201cdesign\u201d is a nap schedule that never happens.<\/p>
But there\u2019s beauty in the mess. There\u2019s love in the chaos. And there\u2019s power in sharing it.<\/p>
